Delayed Post - Feeling Nostalgic

I know I haven't posted in a while, but that's mostly because....er....okay, I won't lie.  It's because I'm lazy and forgetful, and forgot to post.  Sorry!

Anyways, nothing really interesting has happened the last few days anyway.  Besides a few park visits, during one of which, Dorothy decided to hop up on a concrete ledge and perform a show for me, Tin Man, and anyone else watching.  It was cute.  We took Kohl down some slides, and Dorothy almost lost him when she dropped him after sliding down.  Luckily I managed to step on his leash and keep him from going too far.  He did comically fall backward when it happened, though.  I'm sure it hurt the poor little guy.

On Thursday, Dorothy and I were watching SpongeBob SquarePants (which I watch a lot more now, and I think my IQ has gone down a few points because of it) and we saw a commercial for Polly Pocket.  Now, I remember Polly Pocket.  As a matter of fact, I still have one of my old Polly Pocket playsets....somewhere.  Dorothy mentioned that she wanted one of those (she wants EVERYTHING!) and I told her I used to have one.  I explained to her, though, that the one I had was much smaller, and actually fit into my back pocket.  Well, sorta.  It fit in there until I tried to walk, then it would work its way out and fall to the ground, but still.

That was the main point of Polly Pocket:  It was portable.  The little people were literally half an inch high, and you could pack them into little cases that looked a lot like an overgrown makeup compact that fit in your mother's purse.  I used to love that thing, it was one of my favorite toys.

Unfortunately, there are some pretty dumb children out there, and many kids choked on the little people.  Polly Pocket became a choking hazard, and the toys were enlarged.

They are now the size of Barbie's little sister (who's name escapes me).

It almost makes me a little mad, that they did that.  Completely change a toy, which was MEANT to be small and portable, simply because children are too stupid to know what not to stick in their mouths, and parents are either too stupid or too distracted to make sure it doesn't happen?  I played with my Polly Pocket for years, and never swallowed it.  Mainly because...uh, plastic isn't food!  It's the same with a lot of the old toys from my childhood.  They were all recalled or changed for the worse because of stupid kids and uncaring or distracted parents.

Anyway, Dorothy let me know just what she thought of that whole thing by uttering the same thing I mentioned earlier:  "What?  But plastic isn't food!"

Sometimes, I want to adopt that little girl.
