Wow, was today ever a tiring day. The first thing Dorothy did when she got in the car after school was ask to go to the park. I said sure, because it was a nice day and the dog needed to get out. When we got home, Tin Man had homework to finish, so that left me with Dorothy and little Toto by myself at the park. I went to tell Glinda we were going, and she gives me the suggestion that we walk there, which Dorothy heard and loved. So instead of driving, we walked, which was tiring. Granted, Dorothy did stay with me and held my hand across the street like I asked, but still.
At the park, she met a group of kids playing with their babysitters and asked to join them. They welcomed her into their games with open arms, which left me alone to deal with Kohl and watch the fun. I didn't mind so much, though. I'm a lazy bum and I don't generally like running around. That's part of the reason I like it when Tin Man can't come to the park with us.
When we got home, Dorothy set up a game of salon with me, and did my hair and makeup. Not really, it was all pretend, but it was still cute. I was surprised that she knew exactly what she needed to do; "First I'm going to shampoo your hair. If you could come over here to the station with me please..." Apparently she's been to a hair salon more than once. Nail salon too, because she knew that she had to paint my nails, then put a design on them, then she actually had me sit there for the alotted 20 minutes for my nails to "dry" in the dryer.
Needless to say, she's won all of our hearts and has worked her way inevitably into our family. Just like Dorothy from the Wizard of Oz. I think I've nicknamed her appropriately.
